My desktop Icons/Shortcuts are multiply when I restart my computer. For ex. I just restarted it and there was 57 icons for the recycle bin and some of the other icons had 20 or more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob, Thanks for your reply. I scanned my computer with "Ad-Aware SE Personal" program and all it found was a file that was a tracking cookie and I deleted that. Then I scanned my computer with my Antivirus program (Norton) and it found a file called "Packed.Adware" without the quotes. I ran LiveUpdate and scanned my computer again and it found a file named "newdotnet6 98.dll" and the threat name was "adware.ndotnet" without the quotes. Any suggestions on how i can get rid of this? It also says it's a non-viral threat. Thanks for any help...

Tim, I also recommend that you download WinSock XP Fix and save it somewhere on your hard drive prior to removing NewDotNet just in case you may need it. Sometimes removing this garbage causes your computer to loose access to the Internet. You can download it for Free at the link below.

WinSock XP Fix

The link below also has uninstall instructions for the newdotnet garbage. If all else fails follow them in the sequence shown.

Hi Bob, Ok Thanks, I've ran LiveUpdate and gotten rid of Packed.Adware i guess. I also used the removal tool top get rid of the ndotnet and then scanned my computer again with Norton and it didn't find anything else. So now do I still need to run Spybot and Hijack This in safe mode? If so I need a little help on how to run Hijack This and where to get it at. Thanks again!
