Have accidently deleted my icon for desktop in my quick launch bar, cant seem to get it back, can anybody help. its not possible to do it through windows explorer (right click, send to>create shortcut) as this only gives you another window showing desktop, i know its probably staring me in the face.

Thanks in advance,
Conor.

Not sure if this is what you are referring to

Or Maybe a system restore?

conskee, Go to the link below and under the letter "S" scroll down to "Show Desktop Icon is Missing" where you'll find a manual fix as well as an automated fix.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_...

If you use the automated fix just download the vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

"NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. These scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry."

I think you may be referring to the "Show Desktop" in the Quick Launch toolbar:
