Comment: HELP! I turned on my computer today and my desktop vanished. The background is there, but there are no icons, no start up bar. My windows key does not open the start menu. I cannot right click on the screen. I am only able to access programs with Task Manager -> New Task and then browsing through there. I look at my Display settings and nothing seems amiss. The most recent thing i did on my computer was download DivX Lite from download.com, and i've uninstalled it because it didn't work. Please help!

Reply: (edit)open the task manager, open the New Task (Run...), and type "explorer.exe" (without the quotes). I had that problem before and that fixed it.

Reply: (edit)Ok this is too freaky... My laptop did the same thing today..... Exact same problems.. I have used the Run command from the task manager.. Explorer loads up in the processes but doesn;t do anything
