.desktop files

I was told by a friend to download a new desktop display. I Believe the .desktop file is a program that allows me to view my desktop in the "Dark profeesional" design, instead of the standard windows xp version.
I downloaded it from the following web site...

www.wincustomize.com

I unzipped the file, but when I tried to open it, my computer prompted a message saying id does not recognize .desktop files.

What can I do, if anything?

don't you need some kind of program to load it

From that website:

"DesktopX themes are single files that when applied by DesktopX can totally change the way your Windows desktop looks and feels. You can use these to create entirely new desktop environments. They're easy to use and can be turned off with a couple of clicks if you don't like one."

You need to download the DesktopX application in order to apply the theme.
