a friend of mine had a virus on his computer. He tried to clean it off and it didn't work. I told him to use his system recovery disk and start from scatch. he went to use the disk and it wouldn't take register key from microsoft. he has a legal copy. how can I get it going for him or how can I register it and get it working for him.

The best way to do this is to,
When it asks for the product key, it will also give you a phone number for the Microsfot refferal service, phone this number and they will give you a new key, providing you give them the right information

If this is a Dell computer with a Dell Recovery Disk then he'll have to contact Dell Support - Microsoft will have nothing to do with OEM Machines
