Hey,
I just got this printer for free from my friend. But he has lost the installation CD. The printer is Dell 720 and I can't find any suitable driver that will let me install it on eMachines.
I contacted Dell and they asked me to verify the shipping address, what I think is totally WRONG. Why in God's name do they need my address to verify with the Service Tag. Those people SUCK...... DELLL SUCKs, it is the worst company ever. I have even contacted Compaq several times and they never asked about my address. Well, I think going away from the topic.
I know that Dell Printer 720 sucks, so please don't tell me that again. All I need to know is how to make this stupid printer work.

I have found several Driver sites but they didn't have that.

Alla right my friends.... help me out....

Thanks,

Killer

I just went to Dell's homepage and clicked Downloads. Went through the procees of picking the type of device and model # and it took me right to the driver. Try it.

Seconded, giving your address was too much of a hastle? Obviously (sounds rightfully) dell is verifying the computers actual owner....

Yeah really Killer, I think before you jump and blast Dell, wouldn't it be a good idea to see if you did the right thing in the first place. You do not need a service tag to go to their site and download any drivers, simply a model number.

What if I have bought this printer from a friend of mine, then that means that I am not going to receive any help, until I give them the exact origin of the shipment.

This is WRONG and that's IT!

eMachines customer support is the best around I have came up with.

I have contacted Dell, they have those foreigners who do not even understand what you say!

I have contacted Compaq, and they have those stupid people who do not even have any idea of what they are talking about. I had a little trouble with my sound card and they told to reinstall the whole driver. I really didn't want to do that, but they told me that I am not going to lose any of my data. After i did reinstall the driver, everything, I mean everything was gone. I had 20 page paper that just disappeared. Fortunately i had saved on my removable drive. NOw i don't trust neither Compaq, nor Dell.

I don't know how many of you have ever tried eMachines, but believe me they have some very good specialists out there, and they are all americans for beginning and they know what they all are talking about.

The other thing bad about Dell is that I decided to purchase a system from them about 7 month ago, and I actually did and I got a CRT 17 inch monitor that they had with it. Dell never mentioned that the monitor wasn't a flat screen. BUt i thought, since all good companies nowdays offer flat screen monitors only, then i should just purchase it.

I am so glad that that my friend told me that it wasn't a flat screen, therefore i called back, was on hold 35 minutes, and then Finally got my order to be cancelled.

NOW i am never shopping neither with dell, nor compaq. I don't know about HP, but all I know is that they have bought Compaq, therefore they are the same crap.

By the way.... after the sound problem with PC I returned it and got another COmpaq, which died completely in 3 month. The hard collapsed.

I am not doing computer business neither with Compaq or Dell.

This is my opinion about those two companies!

Okay. This is too tempting. How could you NOT know what type of monitor you were getting when you ordered it? Especially if you ordered a CRT? Hmmm

No, I don't. A CRT monitor is just that...

A flat-panel LCD monitor is a flat-panel monitor. What's the confusion?

I've private messaged you, but here's a good way to view the differences in CRT and LCD. Right on Dell's site:

I have always had excellent tech support from dell (when I could understand the person) and that really has to do with what you did or did not understand or ask the right questions about.
And I would hope EMachines do have good tech support by the way, because with what they build, they would need it!

I have bought this Emachines t6212 and I haven't had any problems with it.
And you also admitted that you can't understand people in Dell :-)

Ok we'll all now just stop flaming and say that you could be offending more than just dell with your remarks. Take everything in life as a lesson learned is where this thread should have ended. Goodluck to all.
