Hi everyone,
One of my friends has a Dell desktop with the model "OptiPlex G150". This computer is 1.0GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM, and 20GB hard drive. When I try to re-install Windows XP Pro, it fails to complete installing the OS after the FIRST restart of the computer. After the computer restarts, an error message said "a disk error occurred", so it couldn't continue to install Windows XP Pro. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Thank you very much for any advices.

Some good info at this link:

Good LuckHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Thank you for your reply XpUser4Real. The issue is same as mine, but their answers can't help to solve my problem. Since I have a full version of Windows XP Pro. Another thing, I couldn't finish installing Windows XP Pro. Just after the first restart, it gives me a disk read error message already. Any other suggestions? I plan to change a different hard drive, but my hard drive is 80GB so I don't know if that motherboard can recognize it or not. However, I have to try.

That 1Gb PC should easily recognize the 80MB disc, I've used large HD's on many smaller PC's than that.
Just go into bios and set it to boot from CDrom then hit any key when asked to boot from CD and install XP, DON'T click on anything when it says to boot from CD when it reboots in the process. Just let it go it's course and you should be fine.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
