Dell Inspiron 1200 & new memory

Hi Guys,

I've added a 1GB PNY PC2700 DDR-333/266 Part # N1GBD27OPT AS RECOMMENDED by PNY to a Dell Inspiron 1200 LapTop.

But the Lap top do not recognize the new memory. I've tried rebooting but no luck.

Ant tips.

1. How does BIOS list your total RAM?

2. go to www.crucial.com and allow them to directly scan your laptop for RAM compatibility.

3. How did PNY determined that you have the rite type? Did you actually speak with PNY technie or did you just look up a chart on your own accord?

Thanks for the quick reply.

1. The BIOS list total RAM = 256 ( came with computer)

2. I went to the PNY site and followed the links for DELL- LAOPTOP - 1200 and the part # was listed as the memory for the Inspiron 1200.

I then bought the memory from BEST BUY -- the exact part# on the package.
