Name: the RAM
I was just given an old dell inspiron 5150 that would be worth upgrading to some degree.
But, first I have to find the drivers for this laptop.
I have been searching on the net, and have not found anything other than a video driver.
Thanks

Look on the bottom of the laptop for the Service Tag number. Then go to Dell's support site, enter the number, pick your operating system, and you'll be presented with a list of the drivers to download.
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon X2 4800+
2GB RAM, X1900GT
2x37GB WD Raptors, RAID 1
1x250GB WD Storage

Thanks, but, I just found that same link that you just posted, I was just about to post the link for anyone coming after me who might be having troubles finding the drivers.
Here's the link again:

try searching the lynksys site
Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

hmmmm, ok cuz I think you said:
<<One more thing: Which driver do I need to get my wireless pcmcia linksys card to work?>>Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Which driver in the list of drivers that was on the Dell site. I have the linksys driver, but it does me no good if the pcmcia bus is not active.

I think that I might have installed the chipset driver already, but I will check after I am done installing linux.

If you are installing Linux the Dell site will not be any help. Their drivers are for XP. Your post indicated WinXP so that is what all the support has been for. Dell will not have drivers for a Linksys card, you will need to go to their site for it, reference the model number and version from the sticker on the card. For Windows drivers get the ethernet (wired) driver installed and then you can go online and get the rest.
Richard

I think that you are a bit confused. I was just installing Linux as a temporary alternative to XP. I would still like to get the net adapter installed in windows xp.

Another thing:
The current devices that have a yellow mark over them are:
Multimedia Audio Controller
Network Controller
PCI Modem
Video Controller

Install the Chipset Drivers first.
The Original System Configuration will tell you what the laptop was built with.
http://support.dell.com/support/top...
Match that configuration with the appropriate drivers from the list then install 'em.
"Multimedia Audio Controller
Network Controller
PCI Modem
Video Controller"You have no business installing another operating system now. You need to get the XP install working first. Linux will figure out what it can but has no better driver support built in than any other modern OS; you'll likely need Linux flavor drivers for some of the stuff inside that laptop.

In fact, I do have business installing Linux. I am able to connect to my network via Linux, but xp is next.
Thanks for the recommendation.

I figured that if I could get Linux to connect to my network, that I would not need XP, but it would be kind of nice to use XP occasionally.
