I have a seven-year-old Dell Dimension V350. It used to be a very good computer until it got blown away with the new computers that Dell / HP / Apple are coming out with. Although I would like to know what other things I can do to my Dell V350 to be somewhat on the top of the line... Right now I have upgraded several components: hard drive from 30GB’s (what it came with) to 120GB’s, OS - Windows 98 to Windows XP Professional, bought a 256MB chip of memory to max out at 384MB. My computer is running on Intel Pentium II processor.
What other upgrades can i do to my Dell V350?? In addition, my family, that includes 5 other people, use this computer alot! Mostly for the internet, editing photos, instant messaging, and some old old games that would work with the processor...What other configurations can i do to my Dell before i have to buy a new computer overall??thanks- corey

If I were you I would put it out to the pasture as if it was a well-worn out horse, and spend the money buying/building new PC. With a 256MB RAM video editing will be too painful for the old PC.

If you're intent on using WindowsXP, then XPUser's right---you won't have much fun trying to run it no matter what you add to it (assuming you don't want to do some type of CPU upgrade---which the machine may or may not support). Money saved for a newer system would be better.
If however you wanted to try your hand at a Linux distro, then you'd have better luck, but your favorite apps, games, etc. wouldn't work unless there was some Linux equivalent. Learning a new OS isn't for someone not willing or able to put some degree of time into it...
Might be worth a few bucks to try a live-distro from here:
