Two weeks I could not access My printer.I tried re-installing it but kept getting the message(unknown print monitor).I installed it on another computer (Dell 4100)and it worked fine.I've pulled and inserted cables until I turned blue.I've downloaded the driver and still no go.No help from Dell. did you try going into control panel, printers and faxes, delete the printer in question and then reboot? On reboot it should find the printer and click on no, not this time and let it install the XP printer driver. I just re-installed my HP printer that way, as it was not functioning.

If the above does not work it is possible the driver is unhappy about an XP update. Dell are useless at upgrading their drivers, but as they do not make printers there is a way round this.
The Dell 920 is a badged Lexmark p3150 - try drivers for that.
