With Windows ME I have no trouble deleting temporary internet files nor cookies. I have not been able to do this using Windows XP. I cannot even find those folders under Windows.
Can an expert clue me in? Thanks.

I have created a batch script to clean my temp files. Open a new text document and copy and paste the following below. Just change my username to your username.

******Start copy Below this line******
cd\
:Local service

DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\LocalS~1\LocalS~1\Tempor~1" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\LocalS~1\LocalS~1\Temp\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\LocalS~1\LocalS~1\Tempor~1\Content.IE5" > NUL

DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\LocalS~1\Temp\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\LocalS~1\History\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\LocalS~1\Tempor~1\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\NetHood\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\Recent\*.*" > NUL
DELTREE.exe /y "C:\Docume~1\Buzz\Cookies\*.*" > NUL
******End Copy above this line*******

Now save the files. to a batch file.
IE: Save as cleanup.bat
Now put this file in your windows\system32 folder.

When you want to run this go to Start, run then type cleanup.

I also have instructions on how to make this run before login.

In IE tools/internet options/advanced scroll down the menu to the security section and put a tick in the box next to "Empty temp internet files when browser is closed"
In the general tab there are buttons to use to delete cookies and manually dump the temp internet files.
a disk cleanup using the standard windows tool from the start/programs/accessories/tools menu will cleanup most of the trash on your system.
No need for the third party progs unless you're paranoid and want to erase all tracks from your PC. If that's the case then by all means get the crap cleaner. It will do far more than just empty your temp internet files.
