Comment:

Is it possible to delete the contents of the TEMP folder (without messing up windows or losing files that windows need) located in the directory:

C:\documents and settings\"user"\local settings\TEMP

-where "user" is the user you log on to windows with.

thanks again for any help

Reboot first, create a new folder within your TEMP folder, cut & paste all those Temp files into your newly created folder, delete that folder, let it sit for a week...all should be fine.If not,right-click it in the Recycle Bin and select "Restore".It's the safe way out,and/but you should have no problems.

The TEMP folder is what it states it is, a temp(orary) folder. All the files/folders within it are there on a temporary basis. After a reboot the contents can be removed from the folder and placed in the Recycle Bin. If no problems arise after another reboot, the contents of the Recycle Bin can be removed forever.

The temp folder is where temporary files are stored when a program is being install/deleted. When the programs are finished installing, they are supposed to remove these files. In some cases they don't. These files are left behind to clog the HDD. Clean out the contents of the folder, but don't delete the folder. Your not gonna kill the pc if you do. And for the guys that seem to not have anything to do but fuss and cuss. Grow up. Everybody has different views on how to work these darn things. You might just learn something from someone if you would stray off your own technical track.
