When trying to partition an external drive with partition magic i get this error message Disk 3(15632mb 19929c 255h 63s) appears to have partions created using a different drive geomatry (1h 1s) This serious problem can lead to data loss. No partition Manipulations should be made to the disk using this software or the operating systems products. You should back up the data on this disk delete all partions create new partions under the new drive geomatry and then restore data using the back up.

Try not using Partition magic if you are just trying to delete or to format your external drive. Go under control panel Click Performance and Maintenance Then click Administrative tools Then click computer management. Then on the left side of your screen you'll see: SYSTEM TOOLS / STORAGE / SERVICES AND APPLICATION. Under Storage, click DISK MANAGEMENT. On the right side of your screen you'll see all your computer drives. Find your external drive and delete it or try to format the drive. Make sure you select your external drive. Good luck. Email me if you have questions.

I wouldn't bother in this case with fdisk. If XP can see the partition you should be able to delete it.
