With Partition Magic you can convert FAT32 to NTFS and vice versa as well. I've done it many times, it works perfectly.

Depends on what is on the partition.

If the partition is a non-system or boot partition you can do it from within Windows.
Admin tools/Computer/Management/Disk Management.

You can delete the partition from there and recreate it as Fat32. Of course you will lose everything on the partition.

If you want to convert the boot/system partition then you will have to boot from the Windows XP CD. Delete the partition and recreate it and re-install Windows.

Alternatively you can obtain a third party utility like Partition Magic which is supposed to convert NTFS to Fat32 without losing data. Ensure you do a backup first of any important data you wish to keep as these things can often go drastically wrong.

All the above answers are valid.

Additionally:

You can use Ranish Partition Manager or delpart to delete NTFS partitions. Both of them are very small utilities (will fit on a bootable floppy) and they are also freeware. They are both very effective.

To learn more about these two small utilities and where to get them from, visit my website (Homepage link) and look up the section titled "Partition Removal".

You can use fdisk to create FAT32 partition.
fdisk is available via Win98 boot floppy, and Win98/WinME boot CD.

Fdisk sometimes has trouble deleting NTFS partitions. DelPart works great for removing partitions and is easy to use. Fdisk can then be used to repartition.

Fdisk CAN delete NTFS primary partitions.

Fdisk CANNOT delete NTFS logical drives. It gets confused in this case.

mosaddique: That is 50% true, FDISK was made for FAT partitions, it doesn't "see" NTFS. But
if you'd try it, it would see it as "non-DOS partition" and it would still be possible to delete it cause I experienced something similar with a linux partition whereas it said "non-DOS" partition and I was able to get rid of it.

Agreed NTFS partitions will be seen as NON-DOS partitions by fdisk.

However, my statement still stands. Fdisk CANNOT delete NTFS logical drives (which as you point out are seen as NON-DOS). Try it if you do not believe me.

I could modify my statements to be more technically correct:

Fdisk CAN delete NTFS (seen as NON-DOS) primary partitions.

Fdisk CANNOT delete NTFS (seen as NON-DOS) logical drives. It gets confused in this case.

My website gives more details if you are interested.
