Deleting D partition, expanding C

I can see both of my Ntfs partitions in the disk management console in my computer management, and I'd like to delete my D: partition and expand my C: partition to take up the remaining space, how do I do that without loosing any data? the D: drive is empty....

you need to use a partition wizard. your comp might have come with one but usually you ahve to buy them.

is that not something I can do with the Disk management tool in Windows XP? can you recommend a partitin wizard?

just right click on the partition and Delete, eg.if it's a Logical Drive, choose Delete Logical Drive. In the Delete Drive dialog click yes. This should not effect any files on C:\drive but it's always best to have a backup.

Yes you'll need patitioning software. There is no re-size partition in XP.
I recommend PowerQuest "Partition Magic".

You must run PM from it's own bootdisks (two of them) but first copy all the information from D to C, defrag C and use PM to delete the D partition. This will create "empty space", now expand your C to fill the space.
