When messing around I created an admin account. But before that I only had the default admin account, and when I created the additional account, the only time that I can access the default admin account is in safe mode. I have installed alot of programs and set up the computer the way I want it with the default account. I have tried to delete the account in safe mode, but the funny thing is that I can only delete the default account. If I can just copy the admin account's set up and files to the new account that would be fine. I can veiw the files but it takes a while to get there. The main problem that I am having is that the programs that I want touse aren't there. They are installed but I can't get to them. But when I open a word file, word opens. But if I want to open word to create a new file, I need to open an existing file.
Before anyone says to go to control panel...blah, blah, blah, I have logged on as the default admin in safe mode and there is no option to delete the new account.
Old stuff that still works, somewhat....

Sounds like your programs are the issue not the accounts. Guess you could make shortcuts to program executables.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

I don't know why anyone would suggest going to Control Panel.
Firstly, it's NOT possible to delete the default Administrator account in Windows. Seems like you're hell bent on using an Admin account as standard practice. If you don't want to use the second account you created, login with the default Admin account and delete the second account.
There are ways around this of course, such as adding the programs to the Start Menu for all users, or adding the shortcuts to the All Users desktop. Since you've not detailed exactly what happens when you attempt to run the programs, nor how exactly you're attempting to run them, giving detailed help is sorta difficult.

(jefro)Yeah, I was thinking of that, but the way that I've set windows and the other programs up are changed. I'd like to just go back to the original account. I've never had any serious melt downs with this laptop, and I haven't even reformatted it. I've had it running very well for about 5 years now.
(jenifer) I'm not trying to delete the default account, just the new one. I understand that I can re-set up the new account the same, but I just want to get rid of it.

Login with the default Admin account and delete the other account if you don't want it.

Jenifer, you might need to get your perscription checked out. As I said previously, I have tried to delete the new account. The only way that I can access the default admin account is to do it in safe mode. In safe mode, when logged on as the default admin, the option to delete the new account doesn't exist. In user accounts, I have the option to change the name, and password to the new account. No option to delete is there. I hope this gets my point across. I would like to be able to delete this new account. I would rather not go through the trouble of setting up the new account in all of the same ways as the old one.

The option to delete is most certainly there. You just need to know how to do it. I'd hate to waste my time typing how to do it in case my prescription prevents my typing the proper commands.
Good luck.

Wow Jenifer, I hope that time of the month has passed! Like I said before, there is no option to delete the current admin account. From what I’ve read elsewhere, the only way to do it is to reformat, and I’m not ready to do that yet. So currently I’m in the process of changing the current admin to mimic the old one.
Too bad people like you are on this site, since you hate to "waste your time" helping other people. Well don't bother wasting your time replying since I'll no longer use this site for anything. Where are the moderators? In the past months I've seen a steady decline in intelligence from users on this site. So needless to say, I’ll be searching for informative sites.Anybody know of one?
