I made a network connection with the wrong computer name. I changed the computer name and made another connection. Now under WORKGROP in my Network Neighborhood I have 3 network connections, one is invalid and can not be accessed because it does not exist. There are only 2 computers on the network, and both are WINXP SP2 machines. Just how do I get rid of the invalid network connection? I can not delete it as I can drives on the network so how do I "undo" it? Please help.

Software gives me a headache.

I kind of assume you mean a mapped drive?

Try to highlight it with the mouse and then press the delete button?

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

It wasn't a mapped drive. When I networked the 2 computers together each had to have a name so the other machine could find it and connect with it to share files, etc. When the first connection was made 1 computer had a lousy name so I renamed it and established a new connection. Only the old one, the one with a lousy name was still there but went nowhere and was inaccessible. I tried to delete it but to no avail. So I posted the rant above. Funny thing is it has now disappeared! I guess I got all upset over nothing. But I’m rather new at the networking 2 computers together game so, please, have patients with me. Thank you very much.

Software gives me a headache.

Try this on both computers

Delete any network connections you have

Delete your ethernet adapter from Windows, then reinstall it.

Reconfigure the network

That should clear up any problems. Kind of a pain, but it's the easiest way to fix your problem.

If it ain't broke, screw it up so you can fix it.
