Apparently successfully updated to SP3 yesterday.
In C:\Windows I still find the 163 previous updates' Uninstallers plus one from yesterday $NtServicePackUninstall$It is Okay to just select and delete all of them; correct?
Thanks,
Bryan

Tidying up after installing SP2Look around that website regarding SP3.
I have seen where one folder or file should not be removed.

The correct page for removing XP SP3 $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder is included in the following article (also at AumHa) ...

For the 163 previous updates, see the link below.

The above link also explain why you may not notice an immediate recovery of disk space until you delete System Restore points.

Hi all.
If I could ask here, why would you want to install SP3?
If you have SP 2 installed and you are getting all the essential/recommended M$ updates already, why install SP3 and all the (apparent) faults that go with it?

Janset - download the following document and read what's new in XP SP3. You probably will have a change of mind and go for it.

"and all the (apparent) faults that go with it"
I am personally not familiar with the noted faults.
I personally had two reasons to do so:
1. So I no longer have to look at those 165 updates uninstallers in C:\Windows folder.
2. I have a Win98 PC that I want to upgrade to XP SP3 without installing the 165 updates to SP2. I have the SP2 CD.I was also hoping SP3 would fix Movie Maker 2 whereas it has an issue with qedit.dll running in the protected storage. It did not fix it. :(
But, those are my reasons.Bryan

Hi guys.
I checked out the link provided, and to be quite honest they may as well have been talking some strange off world language as most of it went straight over my head. I am just a plain garden variety keyboard puncher and I question the need by me for most of the listed updates.

I think I will still sit on SP2 for a while yet. I have IE7 and Windows Defender so what else of any real benefit, I do not know. I do not mind the 101 updates, I just don't look at them. :-)
Just as a point, can SP3 be removed?

Yes - XP SP3 can be removed using any one of the four 4 methods explained in the following M$ article.

Janset,
I read a few of the issues on the noted forum site but found nothing of importantance or relevance as each situation was unique to the individuals.
In previous threads on this board it was explained what to check for before upgrading to SP3 and I followed them to find I had no existing known blocks.
My upgrade went fairly smoothly. I did anticipate the old update uninstallers to be automatically removed but they were not.
Regards,
Bryan
