Hello...

I had to do an upgrade for a program (proxy) and it didn't work. I got an email from them that said i had to uninstall Net Framework 2.0 and the MSN Visual C++ redistributable
then go to their site and download them again and their upgrade. Didn't work. After a week of no one answering the phone and an email saying try it again, (didn't work) i finally saw that zone alarm was turning off the priviliges i had set for the program to install...I turned off zonealarm firewall and turned on MSN firewall and "viola" it installed.

O.K. cutting to the chase.. I see that i have Net Framework 1.1 and 1.1 hotfix. I am low on space on my OS drive and wondered if i can delete 1.1 and the hotfix also.

It's nice to come here just to try to keep up with other's problems...It is awesome to come here with a problem of my own.
I appreciate you guys taking your time to figure out what i am trying to say...
YOU GUYS ROCK
Dan

I miss my Commodore C-64

You may be using Netframe 1.1 for some reason. I don't think only a later version alone will fill the bill. I could be wrong but I think you can't replace Netframe 1.1 with 2. or 3.

You don't delete - you un-install, in Add/Remove Programs. If you delete that software registry entries for it won't be removed and you will probably get all sorts of error messages.

I found from recent research the different .Net Framework versions are independant of one another. You may have programs that require different versions.
Can you recall why you installed 1.1 in the first place?
You could try Un-installing that software, but you may then get error messages from some program that requires version 1.1, and/or some program(s) may not work.
E.g. slightly older ATI Catalyst drivers and application software requires 1.1, newer requires 2.0, or maybe 3.0. In the case of ATI drivers, you can load Omega Radeon drivers instead, available on the web, which have a Control Panel instead of Catalyst that doesn't require any Net Framework version, but other programs still might.

If you have a large amount of space taken up by music or movie downloads, you should copy at least some of those to CDs or DVDs and delete them from the hard drive.
