I had EZvideo chat installed and I didn't use it much at all so I unstalled it. But now when I right click on a folder in My Documents" it still shows up in there. How can I take it out????

Michelle,

Open Regedit and go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers.

Click the plus sign (+) next to 'ContextMenuHandlers' to see keys for every program that has options in the context menu. Then select the key for the program that you uninstalled.

Double-click the (Default) value in the right pane to bring up an editing box that has the Value data field highlighted. Press <CTRL>+C to copy this string to the Clipboard. Then press <esc>. Right-click the open key in the left pane and delete it.

Press <CTRL>+F to start a search. With the cursor in the 'Find what' field, press <CTRL>+V to insert the numbers that you copied from the Value data field. Uncheck the Values and Data fields and click Find Next. The search should stop at a key inside HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID. In the right pane, the default value's data should describe the program. Delete that key.

And remember to backup (export) any key before you delete it.(or create a restore point).

Thanks SullyD! I am going to print this post so I will have it to look at. And I will definately make a restore point before I do anything.

Thank you again.

Hi Michelle,

You've probably gotten that list together already, which we may or may not need, but I may have your answer...

The registry key you tried is for the context menu for files, not for folders or drives.

Try doing the same thing for these two:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

If this thing is in your right-click menu, it's gotta be in your registry. It may even be under an "alias"... but we'll find it ; )

OK SullyD, here is the first list:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{a2a9545d-a0c2-42b4-9708-a0b2badd77c8}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Fix-It Menu

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Offline Files

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Open With

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Open With EncryptionMenu

Well what I found was this after I scrolled down under the "*" :

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZPhotoBrowser2.Document

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZPhotoBrowser2.Document\shell

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZPhotoBrowser2.Document\shell\open

But when I clicked on the "default" and the edit dialog came up there wasn't anything in the "value" box.

is "EZPhotoBrowser2" the item you're trying to remove? If it is... just delete those keys. REMEMBER TO BACKUP : )

Did you look in those other two keys I posted for entries?

Hey SullyD. I did delete those entries But they are still showing up. I found some more under HKEY_CURRENT USER_software and I deleted them too. I tried the other two that you suggested and didn't find them.
