Did you remove it using Add/Remove Programs? Do that, then open the Registry and do a Find for the program, removing entries it finds.

Keep in mind, there may be entries that do not have the name "Internet Download Manager" in them that are part of the install. So, you still might not be able to install a free version even after uninstalling.

I'd recommend that if you really like the program, buy it.

If you intention is to reinstall the programme with a view to getting another free trial period then you can forget that idea. There are a sorts of subtle way that the application uses to determine that it has already been used on that particular computer including hidden registry entries, hidden files on the hard disk and modifying system areas of the hard disk that inaccessible by normal means.

The only way you can reinstall the application and get another free trial period is to scrub the hard disk entirely, deleting all partitions and the reinstalling operating system from scratch. Much easier to pay for the software if you like it that much.
