Hi,

A while ago I had this program by maxtor that totally erased my harddrive.

I needed this because I couldn't format my HDD.

I have the same problem again and I've been looking everywhere but I can't find the program anymore.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Liam

What happens when you try to boot on a DOS floppy or CD?

Maybe more to the point, why can you not format this HD?

If installing WinXP, it's not necessary to pre-format the drive. During the install, tell it to repartition the drive.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

You don't need partion magic or DOS.

Go to a prompt and:

format x:

I cannot do that because windows for some reason reads my 80gb harddisk as a 10gb one but Partition Magic reads it as a full 80gb.

Go into disk management and delete then re-create partition[s].

That seems to be doing the trick. I'll post again when it reaches 100%.
