Hey guys, tell me what do you think. I'm running winXP (C Drive) and I have 2 HD's, the second one (D Drive) running winMe (I have dual-boot). Well, While running WinXp I wanted to delete an AVI file in D drive that was in the size of 673MB. When I tried to delete windows said it's been used, thus cannot be deleted. I tried closing some proccesses but that didn;t help. I rebooted and still it didn;t help. anyway, I went to 'Run'', typed Command, Got to DOS and delete the file from there, using del command.
DOS seemed to delete it without any prob, but when i went to My Computer I noticed that file was indeed missing, but the remaining space on that D drive was the same, as if I didn't delete any file. And we're talking here 'bout a 673MB file! I tried Scandisk, rebooting, and still, it shows that dirve D has 183MB of free space (as was before I deleted the file). The file, is, of-course, missing. Where is my 673MB?

Something's wrong with your math. You had 183MB of free space before deleting, but you say you deleted a 673MB file?? That would leave you with minues 489MB of space, an impossibility. Or do I misunderstand?

did you empty the recycle bin?
I stand outside of my system, looking in...and smile and smile and smile

Thats where it is, its in the Recycle Bin, still taking up space.

If you have 183Mbs free and you delete a file of 673Mgbs. It should leave you with 856Mbs free. You add, not subtract. What where you drinking last night!

Stuart -
I don't have any emoticons to display idiocy. I only had one Scotch last night, and only orange juice this morning. And, believe it or not, I'm very good at math...but not this time. On the other hand, I wonder if it's senior brain failure rather than math? Thanks...I think.
