hi there. i recently reinstalled xp due to a virus, but i didnt reformat. now when i go into the c:\documents and settings\ folder, i see double of just about everything. for example it has "bobby" as a folder, and "bobby.DELL" as a folder. Bobb.DELL is the new one, so i deleted just plain old "bobby" w/o a problem. Same thing went for the other users on my pc. now i see an administrator and andministrator.DELL and a default user folder and default user.DELL. Is it safe to delete "administrator" and "default user" while keeping the ones w/ .DELL? Just wanna make sure.

bobby, SWAG, sounds to me like something (Dell?) duplicated things. Rename something (pick one) to 'Beans' or something equally inocuous, reboot and see if all seems well. If it seems O.K., perhaps you can delete. HTH. Ed in Texas.
