Hi, i have a 200gb hardrive and that was partitioned to two drives, one had windows xp on it which i just used that for a long time, then a buddy installed linux on the 2nd partition. I had used GRUB installed on the MBR to switch between them. I wanted to get rid of linux so i formated the partition linux was on. now when i boot my pc it says grub can not be found. how do i get the original bootloader so i can just go to windows again normaly?

I have a solution, and it's the only solution I know of. But doing so, will not only fix your problem, but it would be a good addition to your computer. And that's MSDOS 7.1.
What you will need to do, is put a blank floppy in the floppy drive, run the batch file located in the ZIP File, then boot up with the disk in the drive. If it does not boot, then you may need to check in the BIOS and see if the Floppy is the first boot device.
When installing DOS 7.1, select Minimal Installation, and deselect Install Add-ons. Be alert for a message about install wanting to rewrite the MBR. Select it to Rewrite MBR. Then, keep alert for a message about setup finding Windows NT/2000/XP on your computer. On that message, click Make Dual Boot. You can do whatever you want with the other options.

Fixing it this way is up to you. Maybe someone else will know of a better, easier way.
ATTENION AMERICA!!! LET'S WAKE UP AND TURN BACK TO GOD!

I have another solution:
Boot with your WinXP CD, do a repair of the MBR.
After booting with the CD, select the recovery console. Then run fixmbr and fixboot.
Best
