Default Monitor Problem - LCD

I recently performed a Clean Install of Windows XP Professional on my IBM Thinkpad 600X (PIII, 320 MB, 30 GB HDD, NeoMagic Integrated Graphics Chip).
I'm usually very good and knowledgeable about how to set everything up, but I have an LCD problem that I can't figure out. I'm hoping for some help.
I noticed that the LCD seems dull and not as sharp as when I had Windows 2000. I know it's something to do with the monitor settings because the "Current Monitor" is listed as "Generic Television". I've attempted using different drivers such as the XP drivers, 2000 drivers, and nothing seems to make the actual LCD become the default setting. How can I fix this??? Thanks!!

I've got to tell you. I am so frustrated. I've done everything. Updating the video drivers, manually setting it to LCD, etc. I'm very experienced and it's got me going crazy. When I'm in the "Advanced" section of Display Settings, and if I go to Color Management, it says "Current Monitor: Generic Television", when it should say the LCD name. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
