When I try to read the program names underneath the shortcuts on the desktop, they show as being entirely too small. I have right clicked on the desktop, gone to appearance, and changed the font size from normal to large. This works fine for the session I am working on in Windows XP. When I restart and go back to the desktop, I again have to manually adjust the font size. Is there a way I can set the larger font size as the default.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

You could try changing your resolution to the next size down. Your icons and text will be larger.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Thanks XpUser. Tried but it adjusted my shortcuts to a new line which I really don't want to do. I guess it isn't that hard to go into properties on the desktop and reset the font size.

Thought their might be a default size in the registry that could be set.

Maybe another way to try--
How to Change the Font, Size, and Colors of Desktop Items
That says to click the Advanced button on the Appearance tab.
Then I find that finding and clicking Icon in the dropdown list, font shows as adjustable.

Hi,
1. Right-click an empty area of your desktop, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Appearance tab, and then click Advanced.
3. In the Item list or in the preview window, click on Icon then change the size to say 12 or whatever you want and apply.
