I'm running XP Pro and the default ding disappeared from the Sounds program event list. This occurs only on my log-on, however. Is there any way to restore this event?

Go to:
Start > Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices
Then click on the 'Sound' tab. Here you can set the sounds for events. You can select the 'Windows Default' theme if that was what you were using before.

Appreciate the response LM, but that's precisely the problem...'Default Beep' does not exist in the event list, even when the Windows XP default theme is selected.
