On shutting down keep getting repeated notices that dde server is not responding. The number of times depends on how often I access/close mi internet connection. It is so annoying. Any ideas how to stop this happening?

Have you tried disabling the NetDDE and/or Network DDE DSDM services?

Start => Run => Services.msc
