Day showing in Clock

Just reformatted and now by the clcok (bottom right) it has the correct time (and hidden date) but straight underneath the time I have the day eg 06.03 and underneath Sunday.
I seem to be going round in circles here. I just want to have the Time only showing. I have looked in Control Panel>Date and Time and also Regional Languages, but I seem to be going round in circles. Can anyone assist please

If you click the time you should be able to change date and time and see if that corrects it.

Have you tried making the taskbar single height? - if you have it showing 2 rows of icons you get the day/date showing automatically

then I get 16,43 Sunday 09/10/2005 spread over two bars :-(

sorted it now
desktop>properties>appearance>changed to classic style and back again
