Name: Wombat
Well I have been using Firefox for 7 days now, and I have taken the plunge and gone to Tools / General / Default Browser and put a tick in it to make Firefox the default browser.
It took me a couple of days of tweaking to get it to the same level of advert and cookie blocking that I have in IE 6.0 (I use AdSubtract Pro in IE 6.0).
It will import all of your Internet Explorer settings, Favorites, Cookies such as the ones for "My Computing.Net" here at Computing.net. History and any Passwords that you have stored.
I found that it does not use as much resources as IE 6.0, 1 Firefox window with four tabs open was about 60megs, with the same 4 websites open in IE 6.0 it came to 73 megs. So a slight saving of resources for the people that worry about things like that.
The tabbed browsing took a bit of getting used to, but Firefox is a lot easier to use than Opera in this respect. From what others have been saying about the problems they were / are getting I have not been able to replicate.
Font sizes are still the same as IE 6.0 still on the medium setting, the old Ctrl and scroll wheel trick works in Firefox. Have had no troubles with Favorites / Bookmarks whether deleting or renaming in the Bookmark Manager, if you are looking for your Links they are in Bookmarks Toolbar Folder.
I had some concerns about security, when I logged onto my internet banking the first time with Firefox. No worries as it turned out the padlock was closed and the start of the address was correct https://internetbonking.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX.XX
Lots of addons called extensions and themes are available.
Here's a list of extensions I have installed.
Here's the theme I'm using.
So all up I'm happy with FF as my default browser, so if Microsoft ever gets to ever having tabbed browsing, I might and I repeat "might" be a born again IE 7.0 user.
Thanks for the hints and tips, and also for the links that you posted.
I also have installed Mozilla Thunderbird as my default email application.
Here's a "Noia 2.0 Lite Edition" of the same theme...

If you try it (you have to give it at least 7 days for testing) and find that you don't like it, don't get up me about it...

If you have Sun Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition, v 1.4.2_02 (J2SE), download the latest version J2SE 5.0 JRE which fixes all the holes in 1.4.2.

Been using Firefox here since its most recent release. All I can do is confirm what you've posted; no problems, at least none which couldn't be easily corrected.
The only thing I use IE for is downloading Microsoft updates. And that's only because I have to.

I have problems with IE forever, when I switched to firefox my problems with the internet were gone. Firefox seems 100% better than ie.
I have numerous problems with this machine. To name a few... None of my scans will complete. I have Symantec corporate 8.0, AVG free edition, Spybot and Ad-aware. Spybot will sometimes complete. Adawa

If you want to shudder, use Firefox for a week and then accidentally open up IE again.
It's like the ghost of a dead relative tapping you on the shoulder!

Thanks for sharing those links "Wombat".
This is my day Three (3) of using FireFox.
Totally love it. Still learning and trying to get my co-workers to make the switch.
MoR.
