hello, i have recently formatted my computer and restored a bad image over my hard drive thus causeing me to re partition the whole drive and re instal the os loosing all my data. is there any program out there that i can get all my data back?
i noticed the banners saying runtime.org around this site but from what i understand the program only works if the files are still on the hard drive. is there any hope for my lost files?

In short , NOPE
Once you format and partition its all gone" You're only as safe as your last update "

...unless you're with the FBI and you've got a lot of money to pour into, no.
No time for love, Dr. Jones!

I just today did an experiment to check out GetDataBack-Runtime. I formatted a 20 gb hdd with 17 gb of data. It recovered all the files in their proper folders. Follow the instructions.

per, if i got this right you only formated your hard drive once right? well i have 2 har ddrives. the one i want to recover had 3 partitions. second one had what i thought was an image of my xp partition, but ended up being a partition of itself:S so ya i partitioned a couple of times and reinstaled and formated a couple of times. will GetDataBack- Runtime work?

I only did a one time format as that is what usually happens. If you wrote over the original files you probably won' be able to retrieve the data.
XP-will check tomorrow on the request.http://computervitals.com/

"..and restored a bad image over my hard drive thus causeing me.."
When one restore "image" to partition/disk, that absolutely distroys old data on partition/disk.
Best

If all you had done was format, you should have been able to retrieve your data. But since you formatted, then wrote over it, then formatted & wrote over it again, you definitely lost the original data

Hello,
You can try data recovery software: Partition Table Doctor or EASEUS DataRecoveryWizard. These tools helped me, so give it a try. Really awesome soft!
http://www.easeus.com

how much $$$ is the data woorth to you? The reason I ask is there are data recovery business' out three that can pull that off (maybe) but, it isnt cheap. Depending on the amount of data, you could be looking at anywhere from $1000 to $5000.

im looking for a free software, is Spinrite any good? will it work after being formated, patiitioned etc?
