data error, cyclic redundancy check

I recieve the data error cyclic redundancy check error message when I try to install a game. this only happens on my desktop, the same disk will load the game on my laptop.I recently reformated my hard drive and before that I was able to load this game on my desk top. Any ideas out there?

Since you last used the disk on this computer. It may have some spots it cannot read, maybe there are some smudges on the disk. Or maybe your CD drive could need cleaned or it could just be going bad. Another thing, maybe you did not reinstall all your motherboard drivers. On my computer, if you do not install the MB drivers, you cannot install the ATI Rage Video Card drivers.
Another thing, your hard drive could be going bad or maybe your computer did not image properly.
