-THIS IS A REPOST-
Hello! I am having a bit of a problem with a couple of rogue files that just do not want to go away. They are not harming my system nor are they causing any major disturbances, but they are extremely annoying. I have looked on the net and in forums to find an answer there first, but came up short. Therefore, I am posting here in hopes of getting any tips from you guys. Here's the deal: There are two files that are DAT files that WILL NOT dissappear from my desktop. One is called Settings.DAT and the other is Library.DAT. I have no need for these files on my desktop and I don't want them there. Whenever I delete them, they immediately return within a few seconds, in a most teasing manner. The little b---tards will not disappear and it's becoming a major issue with me. I have never encountered anything like this before and I have no clue as to what may have caused it to start doing this. If anybody out there can understand what is happening and can help me, I would be very grateful. Any other info about my system is readily available if you need it. Thanks!

Try this..
Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open.
Close all open programs. Click Start -> Run and type "taskmgr"
Go to the Processes tab and End Process on "explorer.exe".
Leave Task Manager open. Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory where those undeletable files are located in.
At the command prompt type DEL <filename> where <filename> is the file you wish to delete.
Go back to Task Manager, click File -> New Task and type "explorer.exe" to restart the GUI shell.Close Task Manager.
Do the above for both files.
