OS: xp pro sp2
CPU/Ram: amd athlon 2000xp/384 ddr

When im accessing a certain dvd, be it playing it, burning it or copying it to my hd, im getting a data error which reads (cylic redundancy check).I can't watch, burn or tranfer the film because of this.Does anyone know why?What it means?And any way round it? its really doing my head in as its never happened to me before or since with any media. Please help.

Probably errors on the disc from when it was first burnt.

Installing the application with which you originally burnt it, may correct it, but if it's a real error, then try IsoBuster. Extracting the DVD that way could take a while, though.

Ive tried extrating with dvd shrink and decrypter, but I get same error.I didn't originally burn it.My bro did.It plays fine on home dvd player, I just can,t touch it on the pc?

CRCs are data errors. Either the DVD is defective/dirty/scratched (whatever) or the drive is not reading like it should (dirty?).

CRC = Cyclic Rendudancy Check

It can't be a bad drive because like I said it's never happened before.Plus one of my drives is brand new.The disc isn't scratched or anything so im thinking it might just be an extremely poor copy.What do you think?Why does it still play on home dvd?
