I have no clue what is wrong with my computer. In the start menu I used to have an opton called run now it is gone. My Norton anti-virus dectector always trys to install programs, which it never has before. When I updated my Norton anti-virus it dected "winhlpp32.exe". I can delete this .exe file from the remove virus option, but when i try to delete the history of the virus my pc will not allow me to do so. To make a long story short, "HELP".

Found this, but info is pretty limited and may only loosely relate to your problem:

For Everyone's Info
w32.hllw.gaobot.gen.html

It may not neccessary be a virus.. it could be a backdoor infected from IRC(most likely).. so i advice u to download the two patches from MS Security Website in the above-mentioned URL.. run it and see what changes to ur system?

since u say u can go into the safe mode and normal bootup into ur windows.. why not try to what process is running in the backgound.. (Win95, 98 - ALT-CTL-DEL, WinNT, WinXP, Win2k - right-click on the task-bar and goto Task Manager).. see what is the suspicious process running and End Task(Kill) the process..

Alternatively, delete any unwanted registry key in regedit from;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
RunServices

at least u can run regedit.. once i got a virus that deleted my regedit.. i have to reinstall Windows..

hope this helps..

M
