CuteFTP won't CHMOD

When I use CuteFTP to chmod a file, the popup says the change was done successfully, but then the directory listing does not show the change and it turns out that the chmod never occurred. I also have WS_FTP, so I tried the chmod with that and it worked fine. But I like using CuteFTP, not WS_FTP. Also, I believe that CuteFTP was doing the chmod's OK till just a few weeks ago. Can anyone suggest what is going on? - Mike
