hello I am trying to ftp an ip address on a digital receiver which has an ip address and it is an ftp client ..when setting my computer ip to 192.168.0.2 I always get a cable unplugged message Iam 100/ sure about my crossed cable and when i ping my own ether net card at 127.0.0.1 I get ok message but when i ping the box ip at 192.168.0.1 i dont get any thing how can i change setting to plugged cable and how do i get response from box with a message coming from box saying cant validate host address which is the box error 2000

Ping to your own card is not a test at all. You have proved little so don't do that again.
Ping may or may not work to your box unless it is for sure supposed to reply to a ping.
Things to think about.
Cable bad.
NIC adapters not correctly auto negotiation for the cable speed or end type. Cable unplugged is your starting point. Use other devices or borrow to get a connected cable. Use IP config /all and the "repair" function to help diag the issue. Use help and support pages for "network diagnostic" to run a helpful scan.I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

thanks but i tried using different cables working ones .. I would like to add that the problem lies in the cross sign on connection no matter what ip i give it..can U possibly expand or give me sites about auto negotiation and end type please
thanks
