Cursor problem on Acer laptop

I have a Acer laptop and recently when I move the cursor it starts making lines and boxes. Does anyone know how to fix this and what does it mean? Thanks

Have you tried a system restore to before the problem?
Have you dropped the laptop?
Did you spill anything on your keyboard?
