Current Password Not Correct

Comment:
Using XP Home Edition I am receiving the error message: When trying to update a password a return staus indicates the value provided as the current password is not correct."
The machine displays this in an exception box and then proceeds to reboot about 10 seconds later. I started getting this message after I tried to recover from a driver error by choosing to boot with the last set of valid options after a normal Windows boot and a safe boot resulted in the same blue screen.
What do I need to do to break this reboot cycle and get somewhere where I can make changes? What parameters / registry settings do I need to ultimately change?

sounds like some of that stupid hardware profile stuff you get in xp home. seeing as you dont appear to have anything illegal on your computer, I would just ring microsoft, they will help you.

I am having this same issue also. Compaq support doesn't seem to have a clue about how to fix it. Their QuickRestore CDs (which installs everything from scratch) doesn't help.
Has anyone found a fix for this??? Please respond via e-mail. Thanks!
