The Update Root Certificates component automatically updates trusted root-certificate authorities from the Microsoft Update server at regular intervals. Your automatic updates are likely enabled through control panel>system. you can disable auto updates thru there..then go into services within admin tools and disable auto updates through there. Ok your way out when done making changes. I disabled mine too, It dosn't affect auto updating antivirus software. You will hafta remember to update windows yourself tho. Yhat roots certificate stuff is for more software added to trusted companies like verisign and the like.
