Hi there, I would like to create a bootable partition on my harddisk: the bootable partition would contain Windows XP Pro CD. So that if I ever want to reinstall windows, I won't have to insert the CD..and I would just boot from that partition.

Yes, but
If the working installation gets messed up to the point of being unusable and you lose the boot manager, the partition with uninstalled XP may not be accessible.
A better plan would be to create a FAT partition to hold the ununstalled XP files.
If the worst happens, boot on a floppy and install.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

since you'd have two boot images, you'd have to set it up as a dual-boot system. make a partition just large enough to hold the cd contents and boot record, and use a third-party boot manager. I would simply boot from the cd.
