Creating a Start Menu shortcut

I want to hide my taskbar. I need to create a shortcut key that will open my start menu. I don't want to use control+escape. Please help me, this is driving me insane. Is there something in my reg. that is waht I need? Arrggh!

Just use the 'Windows key' (between CTRL and ALT keys). Much easier than making your own shortcut. HTH
