You don't need to go to the comand promp. There is a disk management area in XP. It's kind of hidden in the control panel. I'm on 98 here in the office or I would look. Do a help search on partitioning and you should find it. You can partion in there, format, choose file systems, etc. It is actually somewhat similar to Partition Magic 7.0 minus a few features. I get the feeling not too many people even know this is there seeing so many references to f-disk, etc.

Go to...start control panel...switch to classic view...db click on administrative tools...then db click on disk management. That is where you resize and manage your partitions.

Rigth click on 'my computer' Click 'Manage'. Clicl 'Disk Management' Then you can see all you disks known to your bios. From here you can format, create a partion, and more.
