I tried to open something a friend sent..I got this message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel"...How do i do that??? I don't even know what it means!?

It would help if you told us what type of file it is (i.e., .doc, .pdf, .rar, .zip, etc)...then we could tell you what program to associate it with. You may not even have the appropriate program installed on your PC.

You may also want to contact your friend and ask him/her what it is and which program it requires.
Just because it is from a friend's email does not neccessarily mean the friend actually sent it and if they didn't then it could be a virus or some other malware.
