it happens with every thing even when i use original cd's (non copied) i have a radeon 9600 xt win xp and 512mb ram my mobo is a gigabyte ga-7va board i have a cd R\RW drive and a DVD rom but no cd drive just the other two 120gig maxtor hdd i get crc erros while installing any game and some time i get with isos and other image games using alcahol 120% full reatal Could someone please help me I have tried iusing diffrent drivers for every thing i have changed cables and also memeroy setting in biose and i have run memt86 and my mem is fine i have a althlon xp 2400 witch default clock is 2.01 ghz any way i have tried turning off dma mode and it dont work i also formted 2 time i even complety kill'd the partitions and started over but that did not work it fixed my reboot problem though Geoffrey Hughes

ok ...this could be a few things first are u tryng to install the game on a cdrw drive if so try a normal cd rom drive if u have tried that,temporarily turn off DMA mode on your CD drive while you run the install

ok just noticed u tried dma and u dont have a norm cd rom drive. as a tester i would borrow a norm cd drive and try that....at least u will know if its the drives or not

I still have a norm cd drive but i took it out becouse i had no power connector cables left i used the last one on a red led light thing to brighten up my case. Anyway it would not work even if i did that cd rom was the one i had before i had my dvd and burner. I still had the problem then too with the cdrom and it is not my ram becouse i used my dads 256mb chip of ddr in my dimm slot and took myne out to test and put dads in and it still did it. some times it works in (pio only mode) only sometimes it veries it could be the mobo not useing dma mode corectly on the hdd or some thing like that. I have exactly the same problem. Recently i also bought an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ processor, and i put it on my old mobo whitch supports athlon,duron processors up to 2600mhz. The mainboard in Matsonic ms8137c Via apollo kt266 chipset. I had to flash the bios in order to get the processor recognised correctly. The bios flashing all went ok, i started windows and then these errors came... Every single game who has some large files in, reports crc errors while installing. OK, then i do a fresh install of windows, and the problem is still here. Im suspecting the mainboard or the processor, but im not sure. I dont know what to do so please if some one knows something about this sort of error please email me

MS8137C huh? - I just flashed my bios with 031007.bin for the same reason as Tomo and now I'm suffering for it too. I'm probably going to throw out this piece of junk and replace it with a mobo on the AMD recommended list. BTW I'm running GNU/Linux so I *know* it's the damn hardware/firmware and not the OS ;)
