I have noticed the sound (as far as mp3s & cds) on my new computer is, uh, well, CRAP. When I go to the volume controls, my "advance options" is not available. According to the help section that means my sound drivers don't support it?!?! I also noticed on the SoundMAX Digital Integrated Audio control panel, the bass set option is not available.
You have an Intel Motherboard and it has integrated sound. If your complaint is poor bass response, simply turning up the knob will do little more than cause distortion at a lower volume. Get better speakers.

It's not my speakers. I used these same speakers on my old computer running Windows 95, and later 98, and the sound kicked ass there.
