CPU Usage

Frequently, my CPU usage goes to 100%. I have 512 MB RAM. with 1.4 Speed on CPU. I measure this with a monitor that displays usage in real time. On more than one occasion I have been getting "not responding" faults, I would like to observe, in real time, what process is using so much CPU time. Maybe I can do something about It. Incidentally, I have ordered another 512 MB memory to give me a full 1GB. Any help?

Look at the Task Manager to see what processes are running and what percantage of CPU cycles they are using.
It is normal for System idle to say around 97%.

I have used the Task Manager. My eyes are not fast enough to notice that 100% CPU time is being used and then shift my attention to the Task Manager and see what is using it. What I need is some sort of recorder that will take a snapshot of the processes using the CPU at the time of high usage. I did notice that the process "narrator.exe used 25% of the CPU when the usage was high. I don't know whether this is normal or not. What does the "narrator.exe" do? Do I need it? Can I shut it off?

I don't have that process running. May be something to do with accessability options. Below is a link stating what that process is about.
