Once I get on internet, after a while, and whole internet brower slows down, and sort of freezes. When I press ctrl + alt + del to open up windows task manager, at bottom it reads that CPU usage is 100%. After I close the browser and reopen it, internet is pretty normal again, a little slower than before but the CPU usage is steady at 100%, even if I unplug the internet cord. I don't know if it is related but I just recently installed CA computer security suit 2007 (w/antivirus and firewall) recently. Is this bad? Anyway I can fix it?

The issue is probably vaused by the security program....this is a common problem as the security programs like to control and report everything that you do...and of course they have given themselves priorty over your computer so that you can't shut them down untill they are done....

Look at the FAQs from their website and see if there is an answer or a patch for tweaking the settings...

Also, You need to remember that a lot of these spyware programs are in constant conflict with other spyware removal programs...and just because they came with a new computer doesn't make them better...only that they paid or gave the builder a special for allowing it to be included.

LOL, I just saw that they are offering rewards for catching a virus or identity theft if you install their program...This should tell you that they have taken complete controll and are not giving it back to you.

You could also try this to see if it helps,
disable the ssdp discovery service this will stop the 100 % cpu usage, go to computer right click ,left click on manage, the computer management consol, comes up ,expand the services ,,go to the right hand pane scroll down to th ssdp discovery service and right click,go to properties then stop the servivce then disable it reboot youll be all set

What process is consuming the highest CPU power ?

Task Manager can tell you which one.

The solution may differ from one process to the other.

Therefore, please do not look just down the Task Manager window but also look into the window to see which process takes the highest CPU %.

Hope the above helps.
